Volunteer Advisors provide strategic support, mentorship, and tech training while engaging in cross-cultural learning and building lasting connections. These programs are designed to create impactful change, foster global collaboration, and empower women and girls as leaders around the world.
Volunteer Advisors will team up with local women-led nonprofits and social enterprises. These partnerships are centered around collaborative projects that address specific needs identified by the local organizations.
Advisors will contribute their skills and knowledge in technology and business to help develop and implement solutions that have a tangible impact on the community served by these organizations.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about local challenges and solutions, gaining insights into the social and cultural context of the region.
The program includes a series of workshops aimed at educating and empowering young local women. These sessions will cover topics relevant to technology, leadership, and personal development.
Participants will engage in mentorship roles, offering guidance and support to young women, helping them to build confidence and develop leadership skills.
This segment fosters connections among young women, encouraging them to form a supportive community and network that can aid their personal and professional growth.
Participants engage in guided tours, traditional cooking classes, and local cultural events, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s social and historical context.

Time and Expertise: Dedicate one full week on the ground, working directly with local partners on impactful projects. Participate in pre-program preparation and virtual follow-up sessions (when specified) to ensure the sustainability of the projects.

Each Tech2Empower program is customized to best fit the needs of the community. Here is an overview of what a week might look like:
Advisors arrive at their convenience. The day concludes with a welcome dinner to introduce everyone.
Start with breakfast at the hotel. Morning orientation includes icebreakers, an overview of the week, and a local guest speaker. Enjoy a group lunch, followed by an afternoon cultural outing.
Begin with breakfast at the hotel. The Impact Challenge starts in the morning, allowing time to meet local partner organizations and plan projects. After a group lunch, continue working on projects until 5 PM. End the day with a group dinner.
Following breakfast, teams visit the offices or worksites of their partner organizations to learn more about their work and community impact. Have lunch with your team, continue project work, and return early afternoon. Participate in a cultural activity in the evening, with dinner on your own if not included.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before the final day of the Impact Challenge. Teams will have the whole morning and some time following lunch to wrap up in-person collaboration. Teams then present their work to the group, take a group photo, and celebrate accomplishments with a group dinner.
Start the day with breakfast at the hotel followed by a half-day cultural visit or tour near the program city. After a group lunch, the afternoon and evening are free. WAKE will offer office hours to discuss work or prepare for the next day’s activities.
